January 15, 2018

I started a post about a weeks ago, explaining my new blog (mostly), and just finished it. I know, it's a fallacy of mine. It seems that I've become a boss at starting a project, but never finish it. It seems like a guy working on a house project and the wood/paint or diagrams just lay somewhere until they get brushed off, picked up and thrown out. Or I could pick up the pieces and try again. I did that with the last blog and it didn't work. So this time I'll start a whole new project doing kind of the same thing, but new and fresh.

So now I'm focusing on where to go with this blog. My other one was mostly just random posts of the day of things that happened. This, (yes this blog), I want to be focused. I'm focusing on photography and writing first. And I have a goal of moving in late March, and already have my destination set. I'm still figuring out the kinks of this but there's several things I want to focus on within each of my goals (refer to previous post titled January 3, which encompasses my goals of writing/photography/moving/travel).

My writing. It seems I've lost of my feeling  the past several months for creative writing. I also want to try certain things. I want to try recipes/cookbook. No, I'm not much of a cook, but I thought it would be good to try to put together something of my favorite eats. I want to write about where I'm at, and then about where I'm going (see below).

My photography. I use to carry a camera everywhere for a couple years. Sometimes I would forget and cuss myself. Now I've gotten to where I don't even give the camera second thought when I'm gone. There are plenty of places here I could capture, just by stopping at a place every so often when I'm out. But I just don't have anything with to do it. My first, immediate, thing is to once again bring it everywhere. I don't have to bring the whole bag, or extra lenses, just a camera. Next is to take at least a photo while out.

When I move/travel (see below), I want to look back on things. When I've moved, I want to take some shots of everyday life and then some of intentional things. When I say everyday life, things in my neighborhood. My family. Things that happen. Intentional things would be places I go within the city, buildings, etc. I want to be able to look back and say "hey, look at this" or "remember this", or "I've done that". I want my kids to remember that too. Possibly even give them something to look back on to. I don't plan to be famous or rich off of my writing of photography, but I do want to get better, and be the creative person I use to be, and more.

Moving/Traveling.  When I was a kid, I wouldn't say we traveled a lot by going to different places, but I definitely had been to more states by the time I was 10 (more like by the time I was 5), than all of my 3 kids combined. When I was 3-ish (about a month before my 4th birthday) we moved to Minnesota, then over to Wisconsin. Each summer, and sometimes Christmas, we went on vacation down to Arkansas/Louisiana. I'd see a ton of things between here (now Louisiana) and there, and all the states in between plus many more. My kids have seen 3. Literally. Arkansas. Louisiana. Mississippi. With exception, my son went on a field trip that took him to Dallas. And the one trip to southern Arkansas was a family reunion, then Mississippi was only to pass through to get to New Orleans and back home again.

Sure, lots of people have never been out of their own city, much less their own state. So what's the rush for me? I'm not content with who or where I am, or my kids outlook. If it were a fad, or phase, I'm pretty sure it would have passed by now. We live out in the country of a fairly decent sized city. The education system is okay, but they don't get any real problems (compared to bigger school systems), which causes them to hone in on problems. One given child is found to have a disorder, or their parents aren't on par with what they think is correct? The hammer falls hard. Sure, it can be good, but I've seen several things go bad with it. I want my kids to see things before settling in a place and living their life there. I want them to know it's okay if they want to go forth into the world.

So, enough randomness about the goals, and here's what I really plan to do.

Last, but it's going first, moving and traveling.

I'll be moving to Chicago. I have a brother there, and literally haven't seen him in 20 years. Rather, it'll be 20 in November. It puts a bit of a gap on a relationship, but we talk. He doesn't travel because of health, and it also give me and the kids an opportunity at new beginnings and a fresh start.

So how do I plan to move, and what have I done already? I've literally had a ton of plans/thoughts and some are still under review. For a while, I wanted to go out mid-west. Get a camper trailer type thing. If I grew tired, I could easily move on. Only problem with that is, well there is no problem, I just don't think that 3 teenagers, small spaces will result well. All in all, I figured we can go to Chicago, find a place and stay there at least a year or two, hang with my brother )since he's never literally met them in real life), and see what happens.

     Second, photography.

Before my move, I want to do a few things here. There are a lot of really nice things to see, and places to remember. There are plenty of things that I really think other's would want to see, notable, and not so notable. Like "wow, I didn't know that" or "I want to go see that". Once I'm moved, I want to get shots of everything there.

First,  but it's going last, writing.

Mostly I want to work on creative writing. (And of course blogging!) Even if I do one creative work, I'm fine. As long as I'm doing productive writing. Without any writing, I feel like I've become just another part of the zombie-land. I have been going though my old writings, mostly all are on either google drive or microsoft drive, and i want to collect them up and print them off, then go from there.

.....So, now that it's the 24th and I've taken almost 10 days to write this out (and even then not completely), I'll post this and go onto the next.

~~bayou girl still at it.

I've started over again, and here I am! No, it's not a new year's resolution, either. (Those are actually listed below.) My last blog, Bayou Girl Blogging, started out with good intentions, then abruptly had someone I apparently worked with tattle-taleing everything that happened with me (yeah, even things that didn't belong at work), and I just kinda went down hill from there with it, and finally stopped back in September. So I'm putting all that behind me, and starting fresh. I am, in kind of correlated news, making a list. There are a couple things I want to start a new, and some others I want to get back in to. Writing. I've been an on again off again writer ever since my teenage years. The last 4 or so years I have almost literally done no writing. (And when I say writing, I mean things other than blogging.) I started two series, didn't get far into them, and started a book/novella, and then got un-interested. Photography. In the past year...
